Passion for Northern Michigan:
Growing up in the Kalamazoo area I fell in love with the small communities and beauty of the Grand Traverse region initially by visiting the harbors of Arcadia, Frankfort, Leland, Northport and Suttons Bay on family boating trips and later returned to spend more time in Arcadia and on the ski slopes at Crystal Mountain. In 1974 I moved to Frankfort, my favorite of all ports, to open a Firestone Tire and Auto service center where I later also opened a NAPA auto parts store.
My real estate background:
After selling my successful auto service companies in 1987 I began a career in real estate sales and development as part of the Crystal Mountain Resort team. In 1993 I was named the company’s Vice President of Real Estate Sales, became one of Benzie County’s top realtors and earned the reputation as a highly regarded industry professional. In my 30 year tenure as Sales Associate and Broker at Crystal Mountain I closed over 1,400 sales that totaled $195MM and was a key member of the development team that created 10 new residential projects at the resort resulting in $55MM in sales.
Improving services for my clients:
Upon retirement from Crystal Mountain in 2014 I embarked on a new path. With a distinctive background and extensive knowledge in second home and recreational property sales combined with a passion to better serve my buyer clients, I began studying the emerging trend for buyers to be represented in a real estate transaction. I successfully completed the National Association of Realtors – Accredited Buyers Representative course (ABR) and added this specialty to my Business card. Land Consulting Services began to specialize in buyer transactions as a result of this additional education.
The future has arrived:
In 2018, Land Consulting Services, Inc., has evolved to welcome my daughter Kari and friend Kristin as new Realtor/agents working for the clients of Land Consulting Services. We will have a client-first focus and approach to our full service real estate business and celebrate our first summer together this year. In addition, I’m excited to share that my new office offers excellent exposure for property listings and an innovative, open concept, client-friendly environment in the heart of downtown Frankfort. Stop by and say hi next time you are in town!
Known professionally for her business and market knowledge, patient and genuine disposition and her strong negotiating skills, Kari’s clients say she is second to none. Prior to entering the world of real estate she has consistently been recognized in her industry for her passion and knowledge and her desire to serve others.
Kari grew up immersed in every aspect of real estate being the daughter of a successful real estate business owner and broker in Northern Michigan. There was never a doubt that one day she would work along side her father in the industry, but before she settled down, she had some traveling and other passions to explore.
Kari had spent the last 10 years managing national sales for a sporting goods company and has had the pleasure and opportunity to travel and build relationships with clients all around the United States and Europe. As Kari’s family continued to grow, she knew it was time for a change in her career that would not only keep her closer to home and family but also something that complimented her past experience. After years of living out west in Sun Valley, Idaho, Kari could not wait to get back to Northern Michigan where she was born and raised to offer her family the same experience she had growing up.
Building relationships and taking care of her clients needs has always been a strong attribute and favorite aspect of sales. Kari has a true passion for the outdoors and most importantly the seasonal beauty that the surrounding Benzie County area has to offer. The combination of her past career along with her strong love for the area has made for a smooth transition into real estate and she is eager to build her career within this community.
Known professionally for her commitment to her customers, value-based decision making and work-ethic, Kristin’s clients will see this come to life in the way she keeps her customer as her focus throughout all aspects of real estate service. Those that have worked with Kristin over the years validate her ability to ask good questions, listen to understand, and take action with her clients interests as her guide. These attributes are proving to be of utmost importance in her role as Realtor/sales agent.
After a successful 30 year retail career, Kristin has fully transitioned into real estate, and joined Jay and Kari White at Land Consulting Services, a full service real estate company located on main Street in downtown Frankfort. Kristin’s most recent role as the Regional Director of Sales for the Great Lakes market offered the opportunity to travel throughout the Midwest providing selling leadership to 15 District Directors, 185 store teams, and in 2017 delivered over $300m in sales. Kristin looks forward to continuing her customer-centric approach, serving the NW Michigan real estate community.
Kristin began her relationship with Northern Michigan 30 years ago, as a vacation spot with family, and fell deeply in love with this area. Gaylord, Beulah, Frankfort and many spots on Crystal Lake were favorite areas for reunions and influenced Kristin’s decision with regard to second-career. After watching her parents retire in this area 20 years ago, Kristin and her husband purchased their first business venture Coho Cafe, a Frankfort restaurant, and took the plunge to move here full time in 2005. It has been Kristin’s dream to live and work in Benzie County full-time, and she feels lucky to say that this dream is being fulfilled as she completes her transition from retail to Realtor with Land Consulting Services.
Kristin resides on Crystal Lake, just outside the town of Beulah, with her husband Steve. Steve is the owner/operator of their newest restaurant venture, Rock’s Landing, on the north shore of Crystal Lake. When Kristin is not working, you can find her enjoying the areas outdoor activities, culture, and participating in volunteer activities such as Benzie Area Christian Neighbors (BACN), and “Pelotonia”, ride for the cure for Cancer. Kristin has spent 14 years traveling for her career, and recognizes the privilege she now has as she helps others achieve their real estate goals, in this place she now calls her full-time home.
